Fraud prevention process changes

Fraud prevention process changes

Important news for our clients

With the growing number of cyber-attacks being made on UK organisations, we are taking additional measures to ensure the security of your own organisation and its data.

It is important that you understand these changes as it will affect the way we work with you and the methods by which we interact.

There will be 2 changes:

Change 1 – Password resets

  • Anyone requiring a password reset will now be required to authenticate themselves before we can carry out their request.
  • Authentication helps prevent fraudulent access to accounts and transactions, to protect your organisation from data theft and resulting financial losses.

The process

  • We will enable this by sending an SMS code or phrase to the mobile number we have registered for the requestor.
  • If we do not have a number registered for that person, we will make contact with your organisation’s designated responsible person, or the person’s line manager to establish verification.

What you need to do

  • Please make any staff aware of the change and if you wish, provide us with a list of their chosen contact numbers.
  • We will verify your designated responsible person/s at your next account management meeting.

Change 2 – Contact from GSL

Any contact we make with your organisation or staff can now be verified. This will provide a method by which you can ensure the person contacting you is who they say they are and give you confidence that you’re communicating with a legitimate representative of GSL.

Please remember that regardless of how, or who, contacts you, GSL will NEVER ask for a logon password under ANY circumstances.

The process

  • We now provide a specific number that any member of your organisation can use for verification: +44 (0)7455705800. You can also access the number here on the website: https://grace.solutions/verify-a-gsl-contact/
  • If anyone has concerns that they aren’t speaking to a genuine GSL representative, if a request from us seems out of the ordinary, or if anyone asks for a password, please text or call this number.
  • When contacting the number, the requestor can give any chosen word, phrase or number as a ‘key’. GSL will then contact that person directly, verify the key and confirm, or otherwise, the authenticity of the communication they’ve received.

What you need to do

  • Please provide any staff with the GSL number and process for its use, and encourage them to use it if ever in doubt.

Working together

These measures are very much for your protection as a significant number of attacks, such as that on M&S, have occurred where processes like these have not been in place.

Identity verification makes it harder for fraudsters to create fake accounts or impersonate others for illegal activities. These measures are important steps in helping to protect your data, systems, and applications from unauthorised access by hackers and thieves, and are a key component in creating a safer environment in which your organisation can operate.
